Technology is a critical success factor for any online marketing small business, but often beginning internet marketers don’t have a good understanding of the technologies necessary or how it will impact their business.
The following ten suggestions ought to help you get properly launched. Whenever possible, try to institute processes and systems that integrate seamlessly, and are available all of the time to take care of patrons and prospects.
Create an automated system if you want to make your life trouble-free and your bottom line strong.
1. Computer & Printer
If you’re going to do online marketing, you’ll clearly need a computer of some sort – hopefully one that you own, either a desktop version or a laptop. Purchase one with plenty of memory and speed. A broadband internet connection is better than dial-up. You’ll also need a printer. If you can, get both with wireless capabilities.
2. Your Own Domain
Be sure to acquire a domain name that you own, so that you can set out~start} to develop your own mark. Further, some advertising platforms will not permit you to refer to affiliate links, or even subdomains, but only a website name that you personally own. A sound domain name will be concise (30 characters or less), meaningful when either heard or seen, and representative of your product or service. The most popular names end in “.com” and those are ideal for many online marketing companies, provided they’re obtainable.
3. Communications
One more fundamental tool is communications, including an ISP and a telephone – either land-line, cellular, or VOIP, with or without headset, whichever you like. It should have both local and long distance capabilities, and if you plan to hold meetings for your downline, the ability to handle conference calls. If you’re going to do teleseminars, etc., you’ll doubtless want to invest in a teleconferencing service that can control many, perhaps hundreds or even a thousand, callers simultaneously.
4. Hosting Services
You’ll have to have a web hosting service to serve as a “home” for your website. There are many such companies available to benefit small businesses and internet marketers. Their capabilities do differ somewhat, as do their prices, so make sure to comparison shop before deciding.
5. Systems & Info Security
You’ll also require robust security for your applications and online records. This can take the form of physical security, plus programs such as firewalls, and security programs like McAfee or Norton.
6. Data & Systems Backup/Restore Systems
One more necessity is for backup of your locally resident applications and data. Despite the best security programs you might be able to implement, there will likely come a situation when you undergo some sort of a system crash, with either some or total loss of information and required programs. So you will also have to have a rigorous backup and restore program.
7. Products
You’ll have to have one or more products to sell – products that you have developed yourself, or ones that have been created by one or more third parties. If you offer your own products, then you’ll also have to worry about maintaining appropriate inventories, performing upgrades, handling returns, etc. If you get your products from third parties, then you’ll have to worry about supply relationship management, ensuring that required products get shipped on time, customer satisfaction and proper payment.
8. Affiliate Network
If you’re intending to advertise various affiliate products, you’ll most likely also want to join one or more Affilate Program Networks (APNs), such as ClickBank, CJ, or LinkShare, etc. to handle your commissions, sales statistics, and other back office functions for you.
9. Web 2.0 Capabilities
The Net is very dynamic, so if you want to be successful in today’s internet world, you’ll want sites and services that allow blogging and social communities (i.e., ones that use Web 2.0 to enable a whole host of collaboration, using the web as the network platform).
10. Technical Support
And finally – another commonly overlooked necessity – is the need for reliable technical support – for both your local hardware and software, but even more importantly, for any of your customer-facing websites and product systems.
If your systems go down and you are not able to get rapid technical support from any/all your vendors, the resultant downtime can crash your marketing campaigns, you can lose or push away potential purchasers, and ultimately, your bottom line will suffer (including your brand, as well).
Technology is the lifeblood of an affiliate marketing business, and Murphy’s Law being what it is, you should to arrange for the ultimate breakdowns and computer crashes that come about as well. Using all these necessary technologies will ensure the success of your internet business.
I’m taking my own advice and running my own online marketing business. I encourage you, too, to take control of your future and your financial security by launching an affiliate marketing enterprise. Obtain the FREE MaxPro Report and CD to learn how.

It has never been easier to learn how to make money from home using websites. Just a couple of years ago, you need to have pretty good knowledge of website authoring skills to even create a decent webpage. You need to pick up orgramming language such as HTML to start. And even so, you probably spend alot of time trying to debug your webpage. You spend alot of time because there are no available tool that can help you with the website creation process.
It is so much easier now. If you just want a simple blog, it can be done easily with tools that are readily available. You can easily find websites that allow you to create web pages for zero cost base on some standard template. These sites typcially allow you to upload the standard media such as sound clips, movie, pictures etc. However, as you begin to get excited and want to do more and have great internet business ideas, such websites may start charging you for the usage.
When your requirement get more complicated, you will need some professional web developer to help. Such professional can be expensive and maintainence can also be an issue. Having a website is not enough. You need to spend money to get SEO expert to help with the SEO optmisation. Not to fret, there are many tools out there that can help you with this. This is because such tools make it easy for most to create their websites all by themselve. Tools such as Dreamweaver make life easy for most. You still have to go through that steep learning curve. However, once you know how to do it, you an save alot of money.
This is what is great about internet. Everyone is equal and everyone can make money from home. Professionals do not dominate anymore. There are good solid expert who can help, but most of the things can really be done by the amateur.Having some web presence is not difficult. Maybe you should start doing one now.
